Here's another beauty! The blade on this example has some age and has been cleaned hard as there is some evidence of fine scratches. There has been no sharpening, the tip is perfect and the maker mark and aircraft etch looks awesome! The brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The black repainted scabbard looks excellent! The paint coverage is better than 99%! The plated hilt looks great retaining 99% of its plating. The black checkered grip plates are practically perfect being secured with two steel rivets. Here's a rare find. The blade on this example looks pretty good. The plated blade has some light evidence that someone tried to sharpen this at some point. I say that and we have here a scarce etch that can be seen in Techet's reference pg 230. The etch looks great with the oak leaves, a helmet underneath an eagle holding a wreathed swastika. The etch also reads: "Zur Erinnerung an Meine Dienstzeit" [In remembrance of my wartime service] and "Ges Gesch" above the buffer pad (it's really small). The stamped Robert Klaas maker mark looks good and appears to have been pressed in twice. The blade rates Exc+. The black painted sheet metal scabbard has lost the majority of its paint, but remains dent free. The frog lug on the scabbard reads "6 ." to its reverse (you have to press the frog down to see it). The plated nickel silver hilt is in great condition, retaining the majority of its plating. The stag grips look great and are in excellent condition! Both grip plates are held together by 2 nickel rivets. To top it all off, this piece comes with a frog that is in great condition. Overall rates Exc+
