Him-2 Himmler Honour Dagger
Most likely the most desirable of all SS daggers! Blade is an Exc/Exc+ example that shows age and grey. Portions of the burnish remain to the etch. Inscription is correct. Smooth-tail small Eickhorn maker mark is placed tight to the crossguard, as they all are. Scabbard is dent free anodized finish. All nickel fittings with the screws intact. The ball has suffered a hit to one side but maintains it's basic shape. The grip is a nice chunk of hardwood with a crack that runs up from the lower crossguard about half way up the grip, it is all solid. There is some flaking next to the reverse crossguard and a tiny flake on the lower obverse. This one has light pressure marks and evidence of wear. The runes enamel rates 100%. The eagle is correct nickel silver with some green gunk in it that lots of guys like to see. The crossguards are nickel silver and nicely fit to the grip and blade. The lower crossguard is correctly benchmarked. Scabbard fits like a glove. All the fitting display light evidence of wear, (not abuse) and even patina. With minty examples reaching for the $20k mark this may be the affordable example you have been looking for. SS-74 Type I Chained SS with original Portepee

Here's a dagger that is the most sought after 3rd Reich piece out there today. Blade is an unmarked Exc+ example with some light gray in the form of spotting which is most prominent toward the tip. Blade to crossguard fit is perfect. Motto is fairly light but all there with some frosting remaining to the background. Crossguards are solid nickel internally marked "PA" and again fit the grip perfectly. Grip is a dyed hardwood in perfect shape except for a small flake to the reverse lower crossguard fit. Nickel eagle is well inlaid and the runes retain 100% of enamel.  Undented scabbard is a textbook anodized version, (as most type I's are) the ball has taken a hit, but not too bad. The anodizing rates about 95%+. The center fitting is retained by 2 dome-head screws -textbook. The correct link is deeply SS stamped to the reverse and all connectors are in fine shape. The skull's and the runes show fine detail right down to the teeth. Cloverleaf is textbook marked with traces of "DRGM" inside the top link. Clip works fine. There is some old patina to the links, connectors and cloverleaf as well as some plating loss. The front of the chain shows better plating than the reverse. The top connector and cloverleaf have some minor pitting. Overall the plating is 80%. All screws are intact. Very collectible example. I have included some pics of this from it's original sale in 2005, it's exactly the same now as it was then except for the addition of a period portepee which you get tossed it for free! Try and find another chained piece for under 6k that is actually real!  Exc+

SS-208 Type I Chained SS

Perhaps the most desirable of all Nazi edged weapons the chained SS is always in demand. This particular example was purchased from a N.Y. family who’s father, (an MP) returned with it after the war. I will include a full short paragraphs about the guy's service from the family with this dagger. This particular example is one of many we find returned with a maker marked blade. We often see this, they are a result of guys just buying  a replacement scabbard upon qualifying to wear the chain. Wittman speaks to this in his SS reference pg 148. The blade is a bright example with some light gray age and light spots. I had to gently clean the cosmoline off the blade when this arrived just to show you what you are getting. Perfect point with no sharpening and lots of crossgrain. I rate this an easy Exc+/Exc++. The hilt fittings are all solid nickel and well fit. The reverse is correctly district marked. The handle fits up to the guards nicely. All the angles are correct. The wood is in fine shape and free of cracks and chips. There are some fine scratches but that's it. The eagle is a nickel version and the runes have 100% enamel. The scabbard when I got it was a mess with some paint gobbed over the anodized finish and a dent on both sides 3" up from the lower fitting. I elected to remove the old paint revealing the factory anodizing. After considering sending this off to have dent professionally fixed I decided to leave that up to you should you wish. There are some fine scratches to the plated upper and lower fitting. The ball is perfect. The chain is plated Type 1. The finish is excellent with 97%+ of the plating intact. The details are all there, right down to the individual teeth. Excellent fits. The correct first upper link  is SS marked. All the connectors are original. Included is the black belt look that this arrived with. Minty examples are now going for over $10K, here's a fine opportunity to jump into a Veteran purchased example for a fraction of that!! Overall Exc+

SS-244 Type I Chained SS

Here's a dagger that is perhaps the most sought after 3rd Reich piece out there today. Blade is an unmarked Exc++/NM example with just a couple age marks. Blade to crossguard fit is perfect. Motto is nice and crisp. Crossguards are plated type 99.9% of the plating intact. Grip is a dyed hardwood example with a wee flake to the reverse upper. I looked hard at this grip and I believe it's been restored at some point repairing so chips. You would never know except for me telling you. Aluminum eagle is well inlaid and the runes retain 100% of enamel.  Undented scabbard is a textbook anodized version, (as most type I's are) the ball is perfect. The anodizing rates about 95%+ with just some thinning from honest wear. There remains lacquer to some areas. Nice! The center fitting is retained by 2 dome-head screws -textbook. The correct link is deeply SS stamped to the reverse and all connectors are in fine shape. The skull's and the runes show fine detail right down to the teeth. Chain's cloverleaf is textbook marked with traces of "DRGM" inside the top link. Clip works fine. The plating is again excellent at 99%. This is a beauty example  Exc++

SS-249 Type II Chained SS

This is a later example was purchased from a Vancouver B.C. family. The blade is a good example with some age gray age but no sharpening or abuse. Perfect point with traces of crossgrain remaining. I have taken lots of time to show you the very worse views possible, I rate this an easy Exc/Exc+. The hilt fittings are all plated and well fit.  All the angles are correct. The wood is in fine shape with the exception of a single flake to the lower left obverse. There is some evidence of wear and use and what looks like some very fine light taps to the reverse upper. The eagle is a nickel version and the runes have 100% enamel. The scabbard has an anodized finish and is dent -free. The scabbard fitting have good plating with a couple black spots to the side where the plating is lost, this could be polished out but that, I leave to you. The ball is perfect. The chain is plated Type II. The finish is excellent with 99%+ of the plating intact. The details are all there, right down to the individual teeth. The correct first upper link  is SS marked. All the connectors are original and untouched. This has never been taken down. Overall Exc+/Exc++

SS-210 Serialized Jacobs SS
Rare as hen's teeth! Out of an old collection I just purchased. The blade has been cleaned along the way removing much of the crossgrain. The etch is crisp but lightened somewhat. The elusive Jacobs was one of only 2 makers to use an exclamation point at the end of the motto. There are some stains to the blade and roughness toward the tip. Rates Exc  These guards are solid nickel the lower is not district stamped, same as the example Wittmann shows in his reference pg 22. Under the crossguard it is engraved, "269418". This is the original owner's SS Serial number. The grip is in good shape being free of chips and having a hairline at the top crossguard. There is some period wear, small hits and evidence of wear but not abuse. The nickel grip eagle is well fit. The runes are just fine. The grip fits the crossguards well. The scabbard has and anodized finish with some minor bruises and evidence of wear. All the screws intact and unturned. The ball has a bump to the bottom. It fits perfectly with a nice snap. Nicely finishing the dagger is an original pre-RZM style vertical hanger and belt loop. No it's not mint, but it's rare to find a Jacobs in any condition. Exc+

SS-141 Early Klass SS pictured in Wittmann reference
Purchased from the Wittmann collection in 2005 this blade is a Exc+/Exc++ example that shows some light spots and a bit of darkening towards the crossguard. Depending on how this is held the defects disappear. Still bright with no sharpening and good crossgrain. It's perfectly fit to crossguard. The maker mark and motto are deeply etched and still maintain good frosting. Scabbard body is dent free with anodized finish that is 100% intact. There is excellent lacquer remaining. All nickel fittings and the unbuggered screws are intact. The lower fitting has taken a few bruises evidenced on the front and back as well as the ball. The ebony grip has suffered some cracking, the worse of which was repaired to the upper obverse to the right of the runes. The grip is solid and I have tried to give you the worse views possible here.  The runes enamel rates 100% and the hi necked nickel eagle is perfectly fitAll the interfaces are well executed and all the patina is matching. Lower guard is district stamped II on the side. This is seen sometimes and if you look at Wittmann's SS reference you will see this EXACT same dagger pictured on pg 35. How much more textbook can you get? Overall Exc++

SS-69 Ground Röhm Böker SS

Well I just can't buy enough Bökers. I'm always asked for them and they never hang around. Blade is a beauty with lots of crossgrain intact, right down to the tip. There is just the very lightest of age. Motto and maker mark show a nice contrast to the blade. The black motto displays the "pimpling" we so often see on Bokers, (see Wittmann's SS reference pg 56). There is a small mark just above the maker mark and a couple tiny age spots. All the edges are smooth. The inscription is completely ground off along with a portion of the maker mark. No sharpening. Certainly Exc++. The nickel-silver fittings are all well fit as one expects to see on these early quality pieces. Look at those fits!!! All the angles and radii are correct. Lower crossguard is properly marked "I".  The grip is a nice heavy crack and chip-free example, whoops, a fine hairline to the reverse that you can find if you turn the grip just so in the light. The eagle is a correct nickel version and the runes have 100% of enamel. The scabbard fits the dagger perfect and all the patina matches nicely.  The scabbard has an original anodized finish. There is a small hit to the scabbard body 2" up from the lower obverse fitting. The ball had a good hit. All the screws are all intact. The fittings themselves are nickel silver. It all fits nice. Finishing this is a nonstandard RZM hanger. These things were not standardized till later in the period. A belt loop is also there. Overall Exc++

SS-194 Early Eickhorn SS

It’s very tough to buy unmessed with SS daggers. I have passed on many more than I have purchased. Here is one that I managed to buy from a dear friend. It came several months ago from a Florida Vet. It has never been taken down and is exactly as it was purchased. Blade shows minor age in the form of some light age gray and I know it’s been cleaned along the way. Motto and maker mark are nice and crisp. Perfect point with no sharpening. Good crossgrain remains. Exc+. The fittings are all hand chased solid nickel and well fit. The handle fits up to the guards perfectly. All the angles are correct. Lower crossguard is properly marked “I”. Peek under the lower crossguard and you will see a benchmark “5”. No, not required but always a treat to find. The grip is a nice crack free example with just a wee flake to the lower left obverse. The eagle is a correct nickel version and the runes have 100% of enamel. The scabbard fits the dagger perfectly and all the patina matches. The period repainted scabbard has some small scrapes and evidence of light wear. The ball has a good hit, the screws are all intact. The fittings themselves are nickel silver. It all fits perfectly. Finally included is a pre-RZM vertical hanger, exactly what you would expect to see with this dagger. This large oval Eickhorn maker mark was only used for a very short time during initial production. If you take this off it will NOT be RZM marked. I didn’t remove it  but I know because it’s not a standardized RZM version. Finally if you look at the back of the grip you can see marks where this hanger has rubbed in normal period wear. Oh, I do so love these small details.  Overall conservatively Exc+

SS-200 Eickhorn Ground Rohm SS

An other "virgin" never been apart dagger. Blade shows minor age in the form of some light age grey. Motto and maker mark show a nice dark contrast to the blade. The motto is crisp grey and the small oval smooth-tail maker mark has been partially lost at the factory when they removed the Rohm inscription. Perfect point with no sharpening. Good crossgrain remains. Exc++. The hand chased fittings are all nickel and well fit. The handle fits up to the guards perfectly. All the angles are correct. Lower crossguard is properly marked "I". The grip is a nice heavy crack and chip-free example. The eagle is a correct nickel version and the runes have 100% of enamel.  The scabbard fits the dagger perfect and all the patina matches.  The dent-free scabbard has a nice anodized finish. The ball has a minor hit. All the screws are all intact. The fittings themselves are nickel silver with patina matching the crossguards. It all fits perfectly. included is beauty Assmann RZM vertical hanger that has never been removed. Overall Exc++

SS-232 Hammesfahr SS

Guys look all day long for daggers like this. Blade is a beauty with 100% of crossgrain intact, right down to the tip. There are a couple age spots. Jet black motto and maker mark show a nice dark contrast to the blade. Perfect point with no sharpening. Certainly NM. The nickel-silver fittings are all well fit as one expects to see on these early quality pieces. All the angles and radii are correct. Lower crossguard is properly marked "III". The grip is a nice heavy crack-free example, There are a couple small flakes to the upper crossguard fit. I have taken good pics here to show you. The eagle is a correct nickel version and the runes have 100% of enamel.  The scabbard fits the dagger perfect and all the patina matches nicely.  The scabbard has a nice anodized finish that's 100% intact with 85%+ of the factory lacquer intact!! Very tough to find a scabbard with lacquer anymore. Many don't even know what it looks like! The ball is damage free. All the screws are all intact. The fittings themselves are nickel silver. It all fits perfectly. This is not a parts dagger. Complete with early long snout hanger. Overall NM

SS-243 Boker SS

Here's a nice example out of an old collection. Completely textbook by the most desirable of all SS makers. Blade shows minor age in the from of some age clouding and evidence of having been cleaned our the years. Motto and maker mark show a nice dark contrast to the blade. The motto is the black motto we sometimes see on Bokers. Perfect point  and traces of factory crossgrain remains. Exc+. The fittings are all nickel and well fit. The handle fits up to the guards perfectly. All the angles are correct. Lower crossguard is properly marked "I" the most usual district mark on a Boker. The grip is a nice and heavy, I had a good look at this and can tell it's been professionally restored at some point. There must have been some chips in it. The eagle is a correct nickel version that do appear to have some chipping surrounding them. The runes have 100% of enamel.  The undented scabbard fits the dagger perfect with matching patina. The finish is original anodizing with traces of lacquer around the fittings. The ball has been pushed in somewhat. All the screws are intact. The fittings themselves are nickel silver with patina matching the crossguards. It all fits perfectly, exactly what you would expect from these guys! Overall conservatively Exc+

SS-247 Hammesfahr SS with Vertical Hanger

Here's a reasonably priced example. Blade has been cleaned and it still shows evidence of pitting where the runners have been resting for 70 years and some scuffs. Motto and maker mark are correctly executed, There is some crossgrain remaining and the tip has been ever so slightly blunted, The blade measures 219mm and textbook is 220mm +/-2mm so it's as close as it ever gets.  Exc. The fittings are all nickel and well fit. The handle fits up to the guards perfectly. All the angles are correct. Lower crossguard is properly marked "III". The grip is a nice heavy crack-free example. There is a flake to the upper reverse crossguard fit but really nice wood overall. The eagle is a correct nickel version and the runes have 100% of enamel. The scabbard fits the dagger perfect and all the patina matches.  The dent-free scabbard has a nice anodized finish. The ball has a good hit and is split on the one side. All the screws are all intact. The fittings themselves are nickel silver with patina matching the crossguards. It all fits perfectly. Included is beauty Assmann RZM vertical hanger that is original to the dagger. Overall Exc+

SS-228 Early Pack SS with Three piece Hanger
Here's one that I just bought from the Vet's family. Never been cleaned taken apart or messed with in anyway. Blade is a bright example with good crossgrain. The motto is crisp and dark. It's uncleaned and other than take off some old oil, I've not cleaned it. The blade has some minor age dots, in/out marks and some witness marks from where the runners have rested for 75 years. There is a bit of a "wave" to the upper edge that you can find if you hold the blade just so up to the sun. here's absolutely no evidence of damage but it's there and I've taken numerous photos to finally get it captured in one view in my collage. When you get this you are going to say, "that's nothin' " but I always want you to know everything. The tip is perfect lots of crossgrain and there are no nicks. Relatively rare maker mark is perfectly executed.  Blade rates conservatively Exc+/Exc++. Scabbard body is anodized with honest wear. There is about 15% of factory lacquer remaining. There is a small hit to the lower reverse side. The nickel silver fittings show light period wear and the ball has a small bruise. This scabbard fit is perfect! One screw is missing. Slim hardwood handle displays clear grain. There are no chips or cracks. Eagle is perfect and roundel retains 100% of enamel. The handle shoulders and radii nicely fit the solid nickel guards. The crossguard is stamped "I". Do NOT take this this virgin apart!! These things are few are far between anymore. Blade is perfectly set into the crossguard. All the fits are all there. Included is original to the dagger 3pc hanger with again matching patina. Overall Exc+/Exc++

SS-154 Arthur Schüttelhofer & Co. SS

Here's a rare maker that rarely makes it to a dealer site. Blade has been heavily cleaned and some evidence of sharpening remains. Motto and maker mark a nicely executed. Perfect point. Rates Exc. The nickel-silver fittings are all well fit as one expects to see on these early quality pieces. All the angles and radii are correct. Lower crossguard is properly unmarked which is commonly seen on daggers by this maker, (Wittmann pg 21). The grip shows period wear to include a deep rub to the upper reverse but no chips or cracks. The eagle is a correct nickel version and the runes have 100% of enamel.  The scabbard fits the dagger perfect and all the patina matches nicely.  The scabbard has a worn anodized finish. The ball has  a small hit to the very bottom that you will have to turn the dagger up-side-down to find. All the screws are all intact. The fittings themselves are nickel silver. It all fits perfectly. Overall Exc+

SS-230 R D. Lüneschloss RZM 7/14 1936

Here's an opportunity for someone to get into a solid nickel SS at a bargain price. Purchased a couple years ago from Shea for $2900, it's now offered here at my pricing. Blade shows light grey. Good crossgrain remains. Motto and maker mark are crisply executed. Exc/Exc+. The hilt fittings are all solid nickel. The handle fits up to the guards well but there is some evidence of shrinkage to the lower. All the angles and radii match. Lower crossguard is not district marked which is quite correct for this vintage of dagger. The grip has a couple flakes to the lower obverse but no cracks. The eagle is a nickel version and the runes have 100% of enamel. The dent-free scabbard finish is factory painted with some evidence of use with scratches and light wear and crazing. The ball is perfect. The fittings themselves are solid nickel with all the screws intact. Overall Exc+
