Accuracy 
Years ago when I started collecting a fellow collector told me, "You will always find something that
the dealer never told you.  It may be small but there's always something,... See, they figure for some small little thing you're not going to return it..."
"But why?" I protested, "don't they just tell you the whole story?"
"Cause if they told you absolutely everything, the piece would sound terrible and they would never
sell anything!", he replied.
Well that's not my policy. I attempt to tell you the "whole story". Sure, this may make some pieces sound less desirable but I want you to have a pleasant surprise when the item arrives!  My ratings are conservative and tell you "the whole story".  I never want you to open a package and find a nasty surprise.  I'm not in the business of returns. I'm here to exceed your expectations!  I believe that when you treat people well and give them more than they expect they will be back.  That's how you build a solid business. Try me!

Knowledge and Experience 
I have been studying period history and militaria for as long as I remember. When other kids were reading Dick and Jane I was looking at pictures of D-day! Hard to explain but there is something in the heart of most every man that loves this stuff! I remember the day I held my first SA dagger. Wow! Once I found collecting militaria I knew this was what I was born to do! I am not a part-timer doing this a couple hours a day. I do this full time. I never claim to be perfect or infallible however, there is no substitute for experience I have personally owned and sold many millions of dollars worth of militaria. I am a long time member of the Ohio Valley Military Society, (OVMS)  http://www.sosovms.com/index.htm  I have also gone through the time and expense to become a MAX/GDC Certified Dealer. If I don't know it, I know someone who does. Every year hundreds of  daggers, medals and other authentic militaria pass through my hands. I have been published in trade magazines most recently in Military Trader with the latest in my series  titled, "Collecting Hitler Youth Knives for Beginners". Let me use this experience to serve you.

Guarantee
I stand behind what I sell and what I say. I am honest and describe to the best of my knowledge
what I have for sale.  I am human and as such am not infallible. If you see an error in any of my ads please let me know. I strive to correctly describe everything. All items come with a lifetime warranty as to authenticity . If you are not satisfied with your purchase for any reason you may return it for a refund, (less all transaction fees).  This return policy stands for 5 days after you have received your purchase. No returns are accepted on any item if it has been cleaned, disassembled or messed with in any way. After 5 days sales are final. I say this and in my experience people are delighted when they get their items. Over the past 7 years we consistently have had less than a .1% return rate. We are working to improve this too!

Selection
"So where do you find all this stuff?" I'm often asked. A large percentage of my inventory comes directly from Veterans and Veteran's families. How? I advertise locally and in key publications both in print and on the web in order to attract Veteran sources. I also pay better than my competitors, after all, aren't these the folks who most deserve to benefit from the rising price of Militaria? Over the years I have also developed a network of "pickers" from all over the world who know I pay top prices for good merchandise. I have presently hundreds of items in inventory with more arriving all the time. Many items never even make it on to the site and others are in queue to be listed. If you do not see what you are looking for drop me an email. I may have it on hand. If it's not here, I can often direct you to where you might find it.

Personalized Service
Every year I provide consulting services and procure many high end items for select clients. This is a personalized service that is tailored to your particular need. Fast Shipping
With few exceptions every order I ship is by tracked express mail. This is a premium shipping service that provides on-line tracking. In most cases you will be emailed within minutes of shipping a tracking number with a link so you can follow your shipment. In my experience Canadian shipments arrive in 1-3 business days, US and Western European shipments in 3-6 business days. Everywhere else in 5-8 business days.

Photography 
I have always believed that customers are entitled to the best pictures possible in order to make informed buying decisions. It's not reasonable to expect you to part with your hard earned dollars from too few, small, poor quality pictures. Compare the pictures I provide with my competitors. I strive to provide more and better pictures than anyone. I take a lot of time making an effort to show you all the problems and issues an item may have. If one angle of a piece is worse than the other that is the view you will see. I ensure any problems are shown. Yes this takes a lot more time, effort and cost, but in the long run provides you a better buying experience. If you need more detail I am always happy to provide this. Just ask and I can get whatever you need. If you are having problems viewing my pictures it may be because your settings need to be adjusted. You should have to scroll down the picture page to see all the views. If all the pictures appear on one screen as a long strip to the left this can easily be corrected. Go to the "Tools" on the task bar, "Internet Options", click on the "Advanced" tab. If you scroll down under "multimedia" you will see "Enable Automatic image resizing", uncheck this box, click, "apply" and "ok". Pictures will now appear in full size format!

Lakesidetrader Recycles 
All dagger shipments go out in high quality reusable zippered padded cases . These are designed for protecting daggers in transit and providing safe long term storage. This has eliminated 90% of the one-use packing materials we previously used. We also recycle packing material from incoming shipments. What does not get used for repackaging gets recycled locally. This keeps costs down and in a small way protects our planet!

So who collects this stuff and why?
I've been asked this question many times over the years. I answer by explaining that 99% of this stuff was liberated from Europe by returning Vet's. These are the guys who fought for your freedom. Veterans did not bring war trophies home to glorify the 3rd Reich, far from it, they were returned home as a reminders of a hard won victory over Fascism. These guys are proud of what they did and these items are tangible evidence of that. They serve as reminders for all of us. Our customers are people just like you, doctors, lawyers and bricklayers, people from every walk of life with a passion for history and an appreciation for old world  quality and craftsmanship. They remember what our Veterans did for us. Collectors keep that memory alive.

Teaching History 
This hobby has provided a great living for me. As one of the few who truly can say they are living their passion, I am thankful to all  our Veterans who sacrificed so much for our freedom. In appreciation, I do classroom presentations every year educating youth about the two world wars and the brave service all soldiers gave. The kids love to see, hold and touch real items. Artifacts make history come alive! Those who remember are less likely to repeat the mistakes of the past! Below are some classroom pictures taken recently. The veteran beside me is my father-in-law who flew with the Royal Air Force during the darkest days of the war and was shot down over France in 1942. Bill served two and a half years as a POW in Germany. He is decorated veteran, my friend and biggest supporter in the business. My family all help out. This is a family affair!

What's new?

2011/12 - While I have been published in trade magazines over the next several months I am going to complete an ongoing project, my first reference book entitled " Collecting German daggers for Beginners". It will be targeted towards the new and intermediate collector. It will have a chapter on each major dagger type similar to the SA and HJ articles I have written. In it will be secrets that dealers use to pick out "parts daggers", mismatched pieces and reproductions. You will learn how to be sure crossguards are original to the blade and much more. My goal is to create a single reference you can bring to a show and buy daggers with confidence. Stay tuned!

Feedback-we listen 

This site is dedicated to you the collector. Your comments are valued. The only way I can get better is though your ideas and advice. Many of the improvements over the past few years have been based on what you have said to me. Here are some on-going site improvements you will see over the next 6 months:

"Last date Updated"- Lots of guys have suggested I update my site on a given day so they don't have to check the site for new items daily. This is a challenge for me as I do like to update at my own convenience as my schedule allows. What I have done is added a "Last Date Updated" to the top of every page. I will revise this with every added item saving you scrolling down through all the items to find that treasure you seek. I hope this speeds your search. 

Quiz Section- Lots of folks learn a lot from the site. I am presently writing a quiz to challenge your knowledge of German Militaria. It's going to be a fun way to learn about collecting and should challenge everyone from the beginner to the advanced collector. If you have a suggested quiz question please send it on.
