Interesting to note here that H?rster did not make their own fittings and preferred to purchase them from other sources. This one has all E. Pack components with a H?rster blade. This is completely correct, see Witty's reference pg 213. The dark and crisp, acid etched "E. & F. H?rster Solingen" maker mark is beautifully executed! The crossgrain is easily visible from hilt to tip and it continues to hold a tight fit and perfect tip! Overall the blade rates a solid NM! It shows the slightest age spotting throughout. The original buffer pad remains intact. The steel based, nickel plated scabbard looks great! It is beautifully detailed with the random pebbling, hand enhanced aluminum bands and oak leaves and acorns throughout. The top bands have a little hit mark to both sides where the swastika would hit over time. It shows minor spotting throughout yet continues to remain dent free! The two screws remain intact. The matching patinaed eagle crossguard looks awesome! It is beautifully detailed throughout the eagles feathers, wings and top side hand enhanced acorns and oak leaves! The pommel is beautiful! It has those gold glided swastikas that we all like to see and the hand enhancing is just beautiful! There remains about 70% of the gilding. The plaster based celluloid covered grip looks excellent being chip and crack-free! The correct double twisted brass wire wrap is in perfect condition and has a nice and tight fit. This one comes with a post-war portepee at no charge. A correct and excellent example!
