Tabbed Tropical Army Belt Buckle by R.S.S. 1940

A nicely maker marked Tropical Buckle! The rectangle buckle is constructed of a die struck steel base that has been green painted. The obverse roundel depicts an embossed closed winged Heer eagle griping a mobile swastika in its talons on a round rough background. The eagle is above a half oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom and underneath the Heer motto reading: "GOTT MIT UNS" (God with us). The wreath and motto are in front of a decorative line type pattern which is encircled by two twisted ropes. The roundel lies on a smooth rectangular backing. The steel prongs and catch remain in excellent condition! It is maker marked to the back: "R. S. & S." (Richard Sieper & Sohne, Lüdenscheid). Attached to the prongs is a light brown leather tab which has been folded over and stitched in place. The tab is maker marked and dated: "R Sieper & Sohne Lüdenscheid 1940" matching the buckle. The condition and details throughout are excellent! It measures approximately 2 ½ inch wide by 2 inches high. A quality maker marked tropical belt buckle.
