A seldom seen maker on this one, with a neat personalization too! The bright blade on this one looks excellent! The dark and crisp, acid etched "C. Gustav Spitzer Solingen" maker mark is beautifully executed. The crossgrain is easily visible from hilt to tip and it continues to hold a tight fit and perfect tip! Overall the blade rates a solid Exc++/NM! It shows minor age grey/spotting throughout. The original buffer pad remains intact. The steel based, nickel plated scabbard looks great! It is wonderfully detailed with the random pebbling, oak leaves and acorns throughout. There is some minor age fading but that's it! It continues to remain dent free! Oh yah, check out this neat personalization to the scabbard throat: "B.H." done in a bunch of hole marks. Cool! Both throat retaining screws remain intact. The aluminum eagle crossguard looks excellent! It is beautifully detailed throughout the eagles eye, feathers, wings and top side acorns and oak leaves! The steel is nicely detailed! Now check out the pommel what a beauty! You've got to love when these things are gold gilded. This one retains 85% of its gilding and has nice hand enhancing! The warm orange trylon grip looks wonderful being chip and crack-free! The double twisted brass wire wrap is in perfect condition and has a nice and tight fit. A quality example with some great features!
