A highly desired piece among collectors! The blade on this one looks excellent. The dark and crisp acid etched "Meine Ehre heist Treue" motto is beautifully executed and wonderfully contrasts the bright blade! The crossgrain is easily visible as you shine it in the light. It has a perfect tip and continues to hold a nice and tight fit! There is no maker mark and this is exactly how they were issued from the factory. The blade rates an Exc+/Exc++. It shows the common surface scratches, minor spotting/age greying throughout and several nicks to the edges. The steel based, black anodized scabbard body on this one looks excellent! The dark and smooth black finishing remains in wonderful condition! Most of the time you see these all nicked up from the chain, but not this one! It continues to remain completely dent-free! The scabbard fittings look great! I am going to play it safe here and call the lower scabbard fitting a replacement. It is solid nickel and non-magnetic where the others are steel based and nickel-silver plated. I missed that when I purchased it but as always I want to give you guy's full discloser whenever I sell anything. The ball has a few bruises to it and all six screws remain intact. The chain is the later Type II variation that is steel based and nickel silver plated. The chain links show wonderful detail to the sculls and SS runes! It's really something when you can see each individual teeth to the skulls! The correct first upper link is clearly "SS" proof marked. The clip looks great and works well. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The alloy based, nickel-silver plated crossguards are in nice shape! They show some spotting throughout yet retain 95%+ coverage. The black hardwood grip looks excellent! Way better than most! There are a few needle point holes around the eagle and some pressure marks throughout, yet no cracks, chips or flakes! The aluminum eagle is beautifully detailed! The SS roundel retains 100% of its enamel and has a perfect fit! This is a great piece that I am sure you will be happy to have in your collection!
