You've got to how this stuff goes round and round! This is the second time I've owned this piece, I sold it back in 2010, the customer enjoyed it for 5 years and now I get to enjoy it all over again! Please remember if you are ever looking into selling items that you've bought from us contact us, they aren't making any more of these things!
A very cool piece that I originally purchased from the Veterans family! The blade on this one looks great! The crisp acid etched "Meine Ehre Heisst Treue" motto and double marked "RZM 941/36/SS" / "Carl Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark are both beautifully executed! It has wonderful crossgrain that can easily be seen though the whole length of the blade! The fit and tip are both perfect! The blade rates a solid Exc++. It has some minor age spotting and surface scratches throughout. The black period re-painted scabbard is great! It continues to retain 97% paint coverage and remains dent free. It has a rough finish to it. The solid nickel scalloped fittings look excellent! The ball has a few bruises yet retains its round shape. All four scabbard screws remain intact. The scabbard/hilt fit is perfect and closes with a snap. The solid nickel crossguards look excellent, matching the scabbard fittings in patina, color and wear. The top of the crossguard is bench marked "6". The black died hardwood grip is rough. The die has obviously taken to the wood better in some areas than others. It has several marks, cracks and wee chips throughout. It's quite common to see rougher grips on SS daggers due to the boiling die process. The solid nickel eagle is wonderfully detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 97% of its enamel and also has a perfect fit! The vertical hanger on this one is a free throw in and I do not assign any value to it. It is broken at the bottom button and the top strap has been replaced with an atypical snap type button piece. The top clip works well and is marked "A DRGM" (Assmann). The interior leather is SS and RZM marked. I loved having this piece then and I love having it now!
