This piece would truly make for a wonderful display! The buckle is constructed out of a multi piece, die struck/stamped, aluminum base that has been silver washed, with a pinned on brass based and gold gilded Luftwaffe eagle insignia. The obverse depicts a centrally placed gold Luftwaffe eagle above a silvered circular pebbled background that is surrounded by an oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The reverse shows a flat circular piece with a hollow center, that has a catch to one end and the rectangular belt attachment piece to the other. It is maker marked "A" (E W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid) to the top and held to the front piece by an exterior folded over edge. The three pins that hold the eagle are visible to the back. The silvering and gold gilding beautifully shine in the light and it shows a wonderful detail throughout! A prized buckle!
