An excellent virgin example never been in a collection and I am pleased to offer to the collecting community! The prestigious Himmler blade on this one is another quality Carl Eickhorn construction! The acid etched; "Meine Ehere Heisst Treue" motto, "In Herzlicher Freundschaft, H. Himmler" inscription and serrated-tail "Carl Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark are all dark, crisp and beautifully executed! They provide a wonderful contrast to the bright blade and will surely make for a wonderful display! The crossgrain is stunning and runs all the way from the perfectly pointed tip to the tightly fit hilt! The blade rates a solid Exc++/NM. It shows the common surface scratches and minor age grey/spotting throughout. The steel based, black anodized scabbard is in wonderful condition! It has a nice dark finish and continues to retain 95% of its original factory lacquer! It's getting harder and harder to find that! It shows minor spotting throughout, yet remains completely dent free! Both solid nickel scalloped scabbard fittings look excellent! The ball remains perfectly round and all four screws remain intact! The scabbard to crossguard fit is very tight and perfectly closes! The scabbard throat has some scratches on it from the veteran's family. They couldn't get it open so they used a screwdriver to help! The solid nickel crossguards match the scabbard fittings in patina, color and condition. The crossguard is bench marked "1". The black hardwood grip continues to remain in good shape. It shows the common pressure marks throughout along with several flakes/chips towards the crossguard and eagle. The solid nickel eagle has a great fit and retains beautiful detail! The SS runes retain 99% enamel and it has perfect fit. This piece also comes with a well working, black leather and solid nickel, single piece SS hanger that remains in excellent shape!
