An excellent etched example here! The obverse of the frosted etched blade, display an elegant No 2 “Zur Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit” inscription, detailed oak leaves and acorns and four soldiers using an anti-tank gun! The reverse is shows the stamped “E. Pack & Sohne Solingen” maker mark. All of the features are crisp and clear, just the way you want to see them! The blade rates an Exc++/NM! There are only minor surface scratches throughout. The buffer pad remains continues to remain intact. The steel based, black enamel painted scabbard looks great. It shows some spotting wear throughout yet continues to 92% coverage and remains completely dent free! The original throat retaining screw remains intact. The hilt looks excellent! It continues to hold a nice and bright finish! The black bakelite checkered grip plates are perfect! They are tightly secured to the hilt with two steel rivets. There is a red felt plug in the mortise slot. The pommel has a well working button! Listed as Rare, see page 153 of Techet’s “German Etched Dress Bayonets”. Truly a beautiful etch that would fit quite nicely into your collection!
