A good looking example by SMF! The blade on this one looks good. The "Alles für Deutschland" motto and "SMF Solingen" maker mark are dark, crisp and beautifully executed! The crossgrain shines quite nicely in the light. The fit and tip are both perfect as well! The blade rates Exc+. It has the commonly seen surface scratches, along with heavy age grey throughout and several hits to the cutting edges. The steel based, brown anodized scabbard is looks good. There is oxidization spotting throughout along with one minor pressure mark to the obverse. The solid nickel scabbard fittings look excellent having nicely aged with time! The ball has a bump yet it retains a nice round shape. All four screws continue to remain intact. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The solid nickel crossguards match the scabbard fittings beautifully with distinct age patina! The reverse of the lower crossguard is stamped "Ns" (Niedersachsen). The smooth brown grained hardwood grip is in nice shape. It has the odd pressure mark throughout along with two small hairline cracks (one to the front and one to the back). The solid nickel eagle has excellent detail and a perfect fit. The SA roundel retains 100% of its enamel and also has a perfect fit! A nice example at a fair price!
