A highly desirable variation that just arrived from the Vet's family. The blade on this one is killer. The acid etched "AWS Alcoso Solingen" maker mark is nicely executed. The tip and fit are both perfect and the crossgrain looks great! The blade rates Mint- with perhaps a dot or two of age. It has never been cleaned. The leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based and nickel-silver plated generic scabbard is in excellent condition! It provides wonderful detail with the random pebbling and hand enhanced oak leaves and acorn bands. It also remains completely dent free. The original, more efficient single, throat retaining screw remains intact and unturned. This scabbard is quite correct for this dagger and the commonly used by Alcoso, see Wittmann's reference pg 22). The alloy based, heavily nickel-silver plated unique Alcoso "High-Lift" eagle crossguard provides crisp details throughout the head, wings, wreath and chest! The unique pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with nicely burnish backgrounds and proud oak leaves and acorns! The white celluloid over plaster grip looks excellent! No chips or splits! Nicely finishing this is a matching portepee. An desirable variation example!
