An early piece! The blade on this one looks fine. The acid etched "Hartkopf & Co. Solingen"/"Ges. Geschützt" maker mark and the "Blut und Ehre!" motto look good. The fit is nice and tight, the tip comes to a sharp point. The blade rates an Exc. It has been cleaned, ever-so-slightly sharpened and shows surface scratches and heavy age grey/spotting throughout. The brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard looks good. It shows some age spidering yet retains 75% coverage and remains completely dent free! The brown scabbard leather is slightly crazed. It has all of its rivets still intact. The leather towards the snap is broken. The button is still there. The steel based nickel-silver plated hilt retains 90% of its plating. he black bakelite checkered grip plates are in near perfect condition and are tightly secured with two rivets! The small early HJ diamond retains 98% of its enamel. A nice early piece!
