Japanese Type 30 Bayonet by the Mukden Arsenal

Here we have a nice example of a Japanese Type 30 Bayonet by the Mukden Arsenal. It is an early Type 30 variation with a rounded pommel, shaped grips and a hooked quillion. The Type 30 bayonet was designed for use on the Meiji 38 rifle and the squad light machine guns type 96 and 99. The scabbard and hilt are heavily blued and the blade is left bright. The single fuller bright blade looks good! It has a solid fit and sharp tip! The Mukden Arsenal maker mark is nicely executed. It has been sharpened about half of the way towards the tip. It rates Exc+. It shows the common surface scratches and age wear. The ball tipped, steel based blackend scabbard looks great! It has a few minor scratches and spots but that’s it. It remains dent free. The single throat screw remains intact. The scabbard sits perfectly up against the hooked crossguard. The hilt is made of blackened steel. The birds head pommel has a well working button, is serial numbered to the top: “5102756” and right below it is the inspectors mark. The wood grip plates are held securely by two rivets. They show the common pressure marks and continue to look great! A great piece to add to your collection!
