Another neat American Sword! The Model 1850 Army Staff and Field Officer's Sword was carried by all members of staff departments, Field Grade officers of Artillery and Infantry, Company Grade Officers of Light Artillery, Staff Officers andAides-de-Camp between 1850 and 1872. The 30 inch long, double fuller blade looks decent. It is marked “Armaus”. It has a perfect tip. The blade rates VG. It shows heavy age grey and oxidization throughout. The brass based gold gilded hand guard looks great with a nicely displayed floral scroll motif. It is nicely patinaed and only shows typical age wear. The top of the pommel shows the end of the tang. The black painted wood based grip is covered in twisted wire wrap. The long sword measures 35 1/2 inch total length. A rare prize!
