Rare pattern named after a famous German leader. The plated blade rates Exc++ being bright and clean right with just a couple dots of age. Other than that it's fine. The blade is stamped with the mid period Eickhorn maker mark. This pattern is illustrated in Angolia's reference pg 82 and known as Model 1735. The black enamel painted dent-free scabbard looks like it may have been period repainted. It has normal age the odd scuff and minor crazing. This is a gilded aluminium based example with wear to the high areas. The top of the hilt expertly covers the tang with a oak leaf that is cast there. The flat bow "P" guard has a beauty dot and curl motif. This pattern is continued everywhere including the ferrel, backstrap. The obverse languet features a closed-winged eagle. The reverse is Jeweller personalized, "MS". The grip is black celluloid without chips or cracks. It is wrapped with tight triple aluminium wire that really stands out against the black celluloid. I tore the portepee strap while doing photography, so consider it a freebie! A good example.
