A textbook Army Dagger by Eickhorn! The bright blade on this one looks great! The acid etched "Original Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark is dark, crisp and beautifully executed! The crossgrain is stunning running the full length of the blade. The tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates an Exc++. It shows minor spotting and age grey throughout. The fit is loose as well. The leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based, nickel-silver plated scabbard provides wonderful detail with the random pebbling throughout and hand enhanced oak leaf and acorn bands! It remains completely dent free. The original throat retaining screws remains intact. The zinc-alloy based, nickel-silver plated Eickhorn crossguard provides wonderful detail throughout the eagle's head, wings, wreath and chest. The pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with proud oak leaves and acorns. The hilt assembly is a bit loose, as often happens when the butt of the blade cuts through the buffer, I would tighten this up but the pommel is seized. The orange, trylon grip on this one looks excellent. It has the odd hit but that's it. A nicely patinaed Eickhorn example!
