Killer Early Eickhorn RAD EM

Well you guys who have been searching for a nice one know how tough these are to find in nice shape, especially when they come direct from the Vet. These massive things were used and abused. This one has the deep matte black etching. It's not been cleaned over and over like some many of these leaving the etch lightened. The whole thing has it's original matte finish that these were all issued with. You know, I see so many of these things all buffed up to a mirror finish that guys think that is how these are supposed to look!! WRONG! These were never shiny. They all were issued with a matte finish blade! Sorry guys, I do get carried away some days but it really frustrates me when I see people misrepresenting how these really did look! Ok, enough ranting. Nice blade with factory matt finish with the grain correctly running down the length of the blade. Look at that etch, awesome! Unlike some later pieces this etch is perfectly placed and does not run into the fuller. The small double oval Eickhorn logo is the early one. No sharpening or damage or any sort just normal runner marks and the odd bit of age. Overall Exc++. Dent-free scabbard body retains 100% of the original heavy black factory lacquer with the odd scratch and crazing but really remarkably well preserved. All the fittings on this thing have patinaed to a beautiful matching blue/black that only years of untouched sitting can provide. BTW, only the very 1st RAD EM's will do that, the reason being that these were silver plated with real silver. The fittings have great burnish. All screws are intact and unturned. The handle is a beauty without any damage of any kind. The horn has beautiful aged to a nice yellow/orange that only time can create. The crossguard retains all it's original burnish and of course all the matching finish. Expensive? Find another Early Eick. in this condition!
