Here's a good looking piece! The bright plated blade on this one looks good. The stamped kissing kranes "Robt Klaas Solingen" maker mark is beautifully executed! The plating has a beautiful mirror like finish. The tip comes to a perfect point. The blade rates an Exc++. It shows minor plating loss towards the tip and surface scratches throughout. The fit is loose as well. The leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based, nickel-silver plated scabbard provides wonderful detail with the random pebbling throughout and hand enhanced oak leaf and acorn bands! It remains completely dent free. This scabbard is associated with Eickhorn production. The original throat retaining screws remains intact. The zinc-alloy based, nickel-silver plated highly detailed Klaas crossguard provides wonderful detail throughout the eagle's head, wings, wreath and chest. The pommel and ferrule are also beautifully detailed with proud oak leaves and acorns that are easily visible through the back burnishing. The hilt assembly is a bit loose, as often happens when the butt of the blade cuts through the buffer, I would tighten this up but the pommel is seized. The orange, trylon grip on this one looks great. It has minor hits throughout but that's it. A solid piece obtained from the Vet's family!
