Here's one that's never been in a collection and was purchased last month right from the family. The 31.75" blade rates Exc+ having some age, the worse of which is towards the hilt. There are a couple "nail catchers" towards the tip. It's got that nice matt finish. The tip is quite original. The blade is marked with Eickhorn's mid-period stamp. The original leather buffer pad remains intact. The black enamel painted scabbard is dent free. It has minor age crazing and the odd scuff but I would say the paint is still 98%. The top fitting is secured by 2 unbuggered dome screws. The lower fitting has all it's original plating and retains burnish to the backgrouds being secured with matching screws. The wire wrapped grip is in good shape sporting the correct large officer size police insignia. There is some wear and normal rubs to the hardwood grip but no cracks or chunks missing. The cast ferule is well detailed showing burnishing to the backgrounds. Look at the small details here guys, see the drilled tip at the end of the quillion? Gotta love it! It's never been apart or cleaned. This thing is nicely patinaed with that yellow/brown stuff that only comes from years in a vet's house. I know it will clean up real nice if you want to do it. Sure I could squeeze a few more bucks outta this with a tube of semichrome and some elbow grease but I prefer these the way they are, if you choose to clean them you have that option! A real nice out of the wood work example you will be pleased with!
