A beautiful set on a parade mount! The Wehrmacht-Dienstauszeichnung was awarded for 4 and 12 years of good standing military service. They are constructed out of a die stamped steel base that has been silver washed / gold gilded. The obverse depicts, in silver/gold, a national closed winged Heer eagle, clutching a swastika in its talons, below: “Treue Dienste in der Wehrmacht” (Faithful Service in the Wehrmacht). The reverse’s depict a stylized “4”/”12” encircled by an oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the top and bottom. To the tops of the medals have a soldered on loop and ring which fastens the awards to the parade mount. The parade mount is zinc base and covered, with stitching, by a folded blue ribbed rayon ribbon and green wool to the reverse. There are two pinned on steel silver/gold Heer eagles, clutching a wreathed swastika within its talons above the awards. The silver wash and gold gilt are in wonderful condition! The tombak prong, catch and hinge assembly remains in well working condition! It measures approximately 2 ¾ inches wide and tall. A stunning piece!
