Here's an excellent example of a Red Cross DRK Helper Active Service Brooch! Female DRK personnel were issued an active service brooch to be worn as a duty badge. It is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been silver washed and contains red, black and white enamel work. The round shaped obverse depicts a centrally placed red cross on a white circular backing, which is then all encircled by: "Deutsches Rotes Kreuz Helferin", (German Red Cross Helper), on a black backing. The concave reverse shows a well working pin, hinge and catch assembly and is marked: "Ges. Gesch." and "HA" (Hermann Aurich, Dresden). It measures approximately 1 3/16 inches in diameter. The enamel work is 99%+. Overall this piece is really nice!
