Guys search the internet all day for badges like this. If you only want one, this is the one to get! Exactly the way these were meant to look! The Pilot / Observer badge was to be awarded to personnel who qualified as both pilot and observer. It is constructed out of two pieces of die struck tombak/nickel silver that have been silver washed and gold gilded. The obverse features a silvered centrally placed massive swooping Luftwaffe eagle with outstretched wings clutching a mobile swastika in its talons. The eagle is the attached, at the wings, to a gold half laurel leaf and berry / half oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The reverse correctly displays the "GWL" (Gebruder Wegerhoff Lüdenscheid) maker mark behind the eagle. It shows the correct block hinge, flat wire catch, round wire pin and two counter-sunk rivets. The obverse displays beautiful details throughout the eagle and wreath. The frosting and gilding are superb! It measures approximately 2 1/2 inches wide by 2 1/16 inches tall. Stunning, crisp quality at its best!
