Here we have an HJ/DAF Gau (State) Level 1944 national trade competition victors badge. The Reichsberufswettkampf (National Trade Competition) was an annual vocational competition held in Nazi Germany as part of the Gleichschaltung of German society. It is constructed out of a die struck zinc base that has been silver washed and contains multicolored paint work. The obverse depicts a German national eagle with outstretched wings clutching a cogwheel, that has a Hitler Youth diamond logo above it, in its talons. This is all in front of a smooth pearl white field that reads “Gausieger 1944” (Gau Victorious 1944) and is surrounded by a laurel leaf and berry wreath. The reverse shows a full concave plate with an embossed maker mark which reads: “G. Brehmer Markneukirchen”. It also has a crimped tombak round wire catch, crimped ball hinge and steel round wire pin. It measures approximately 1 15/16 inches wide and tall. 98%+ paint work remains intact. A rare and desired award.
