German s1871 Etched Dress Bayonet

Please note this item is no longer available and you were redirected to our Archives.

Really hard to find bayonet in decent condition. The S1871 was the std bayonet of the Franco-Prussian conflict. This dress edition was a celebration of the victory over the French and Bismark's reunification of the German states under the Kaiser. Hence the scrip, "Mitt Gott Fur Kaiser und Reich". This bayonet features an 18" triple engraved blade. The blade has been cleaned some and does have some spotting, perhaps something you can forgive when you consider this is near 150yrs old! The original buffer remains. The brass hilt is highlighted with a recurving plated quillion. The scabbard has black leather with perfect stitching. The matching brass fittings have curved edges where they meet the shell. They are loosely fit and secured with staples in the normal fashion.
