SS Officer degan by PDM

Always a pleasure to handle, these Dachau produced degans are rare and near impossible to find any more. These were authorized for wear personally by Himmler and ownership required a certificate for wear. Each one was, upon being awarded, duly noted in the SS Diensltersliste and became a part of the owners service record. This example is a later Dachau produced piece. The unmarked blade rates Exc++ being bright and clean. There are a few minor scuffs but nothing major, really nice and of course it's rust free! :> The textbook black buffer pad is intact. The scabbard is dent free and painted in a thick black enamel. It has scuffs, scatches and a couple small areas where there's a bit of oxidation. Say the paint is 97% intact. The scabbard shell is just slightly smaller and more elegant than on standard police/SS degans. You would never notice except if you lay one of these next to another. The fittings are both the "slip fit" type. The top being slightly oversize and have non factory blackened backgrounds, (exactly as they should be). There are no runners in the scabbard so the blade is loose in there. Yes I could get some and fit them but I do like to sell items as they arrive. Neither the top scabbard fitting or the D guard are SS proofed textbook. If you ever do see one proofed run the other way! The grip is composed of 13 ribbed sections being separated with original wire wrap. The runes button is correct set in place being factory darkened and stippled to the background, there is a small chip below the runes button. Note the placement just after the fourth rib, exactly were it should be! The ferrruels are both separate pieces with no blackening to backgounds. All the fittings are chrome plated and exactly what one would expect to find on a Dachau sword. Ok so if you can forgive the lack of runners and the oversize upper scabbard fitting you have a SS Officer sword at a fraction of aht you would pay for an early example. Very nice!
