A great example! The bright cleaned blade on this one looks good. The crisp acid etched "Meine Ehre heißt Treue" motto is faint yet beautifully executed! The crossgrain remains visible. The tip comes to a perfect point and it continues to hold a nice and tight fit! There is no maker mark and this is exactly how they were issued from the factory. The blade rates an Exc+. It has been cleaned and shows heavy clouding/age grey and surface scratches throughout. The steel based black anodized scabbard body on this one looks great. It has some oxidization spotting throughout yet holds a nice and dark finish and remains completely dent free! The steel based nickel-silver plated scabbard fittings look great! They remain nice and bright, with just the common spotting matching the rest of the scabbard. The ball remains completely round and all six screws remain intact. The chain is the later Type II variation that is steel based and plated. The chain links show crisp detail to the sculls and SS runes! It's really something when you look at the skulls and you can see each individual tooth! The correct reverse first upper link is clearly "SS" proof marked. The clip continues to work well. The scabbard to crossguard fit is perfect. The zinc-alloy based, plated crossguards are in great matching the scabbard perfectly! The black hardwood grip has been professionally restored. There are a few common pressure marks and you can see some discoloration around the eagle. The aluminum eagle is beautifully detailed. The SS roundel retains 99%+ of its enamel! A great piece at a great price!
