A rare piece! The 12 ¼ inch single edged blade looks great! It has a nice matte like finish, a perfect tip and solid fit! It rates Exc++. It has surface scratches throughout along with several miniscule nicks to the spine and cutting edge. The steel based blackened scabbard looks great. It has the odd pressure mark throughout, both throat retaining screws remain intact. The scabbard snuggly fits up against the hilt with the push release button continuing to work well! The hilt is mostly comprised of brass gilded fittings. The grip is constructed out of a wood base that is covered in ray skin and has a brass twisted wire wrap. There is a decorative chrysanthemum flower to the top spine. A great example!
