Here we have a beautiful example of a Japanese (Variation T) Type 30 Bayonet by Toyoda Jido Shokki Seisakusho Arsenal. The Type 30 bayonet designed for the Japanese Army to be used with the Arisaka Type 30 Rifle and was later used on the Type 38 and Type 99 rifles. The 15 3/4 inch, blued, unfullered blade looks excellent! The Jido Shokki Seisakusho Arsenal maker mark remains looking great! The blueing is nice and dark. The tip comes to a sharp point and the fit is perfectly secured. The blade rates an Exc++/NM. It shows minor blueing loss towards the tip and the slightest oxidization spotting. The blade fits perfectly into the wooden scabbard. The scabbard sits perfectly against the steel based and blackened hilt. The crossguard is straight and has a 9/16 inch muzzle ring. The rectangular pommel has a well working button and is marked to the very top with the inspectors stamp and the serial number “3381731”. The two contour wrap around wood grip plates are tightly secured by two rivets. They show the common pressure marks. The scabbard holds a double looped leather frog! It is cracked to the very top and edge. All of the stitching and rivets remain intact as does the steel buckle. A cool looking later war example!
