Here we have a denazified 1938 version of the German DRK (Deutsches Rotes Kreuz) Red Cross Buckle by Josef Feix und Söhne. It is constructed out of an injection molded aluminum-alloy base that has been silver washed. The obverse depicts a closed winged red cross eagle with a denazified swastika on its chest and the Red Cross emblem in its talons. The eagle is surrounded by a laurel leaf wreath that is open to the top and tied together at the bottom. All of this lies on a decorative pebbled rectangular background. The reverse is maker marked: "JFS" (Josef Feix Söhne, Gablonz a. N ), dated "39" (1939) and marked "Ges. Gesch.". The aluminum prongs and integral catch remain in excellent condition! Wonderful detail remain throughout the whole piece. It measures approximately 2 7/16 inch wide by 1 7/8 inches high.
