A neat and unusual one! It is constructed of two pieces of die stamped/struck nickel-alloy that have been silver washed. The obverse roundel depicts a closed winged Heer eagle griping a mobile swastika in its talons on a textured round background. The eagle is above a half oak leaf and acorn wreath that is tied together at the bottom and is underneath the Heer motto reading: “Gott Mit Uns” (God with us). The wreath and motto are both in front of a textured background which is encircled by two twisted ropes. The separate roundel lies on a pebbled rectangular backing. The reverse shows three of the four pongs that attach the roundel. The top edge is clearly maker marked “.A.” (F W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid). The plated steel prongs and integral catch remain intact. A very different design. It measures approximately 2 1/2 inch wide by 1 7/8 inches high.
