German WWII > Belt Buckles > Luftwaffe >
Here we have a Luftwaffe EM/NCO Belt and Buckle, that was instituted in 1940. The buckle is constructed out of a die struck steel base that has been feld gray painted. The obverse features a centrally placed 2nd pattern Luftwaffe open winged eagle clutching a swastika in one of its talons, on top of an oval pebbled background, that is all encircled by a laurel leaf and berry wreath that is tied together at the bottom and all lies on a smooth rectangular backing. The reverse shows plated steel prongs and soldered on steel catch that remain in great condition. The buckle retains beautiful detail and paint! The buckle measures approximately 2 1/2 inches wide by 1 7/8 inches high. Attached to the buckle is a 1st pattern 37 ½ inch long black/brown leather belt. It features a stitched on aluminum "RSS" (in a tringle) maker marked hook to the one end and a stitched on 14 hole punched tongue to the other. The belt is maker marked and dated to the interior. It is mostly illegible although I assume it matches the hook and is dated "1935". The belt has obviously been shortened as the tongue is longer that the belt. 40% of the tongues stitching remains intact. The leather remains in excellent shape. A nice Luftwaffe assembly!
