A nice Long Dress Bayonet by C. Gustav Spitzer! The single edged, fullered 9 ½ inch plated blade on this one looks great. The stamped lion "C. Gustav Spitzer Solingen" maker mark is beautifully executed. The plating gives it a nice mirror like finish. The tip comes to a perfectly sharp point and the fit is nice and tight! The blade rates Exc++. It shows the odd spot and the common surface scratches throughout. The brown leather buffer pad remains intact. The steel based black enamel painted scabbard looks fine. It shows paint loss and spotting throughout. It continues to retain 40%+ of its original paint coverage. It has a small pressure mark towards the tip. The interior runner has a small wiggle. The original throat retaining screw and frog lug remain intact. The ball remains perfectly round. The zinc-alloy based, nickel-silver plated hilt looks good. The platting retains 97%+ coverage. The black checkered bakelite grip plates are in great condition. There is a wee chip to the back one. Both plates are tightly secured to the hilt with two steel rivets. The button continues to work well! A fine piece!
