Here we have a 1936 model RAD (Reichsarbeitsdienst) Arbeitsmann Service Tunic (Dienstbluse). It is constructed out of a multi-piece earth brown and dark brown (collar) thick wool. The wool is very clean! The tunic has four pleated pockets with silvered aluminum pebbled buttoned scalloped flaps. The front vertical closure has five silvered aluminum pebbled buttons. All of the buttons are all marked “G” and “36” (1936) to the underside. The Arbeitsmann collar tabs are machine stitched on. They are constructed out of a black wool cloth covered cardboard base. There are no shoulder boards. The left arm features a hand stitched on red, white and red printed NSDAP Armband. The back side of the armband has a three inch red wool lengthening strip. Above the armband is a RAD service unit assignment patch. The larger number “286” indicates the Gruppe (Group) that the wearer was attached to, while the smaller number underneath it “4” indicate his Abteilung (Section) within it. The interior is partially lined in tan brown cotton and remains very clean! There is black printed maker/measurement numbers to the left hand side which read: “Heb. Muermann” and “R.A.D.B A. Br.” along with “8 39 39 40 90 65 59 939”. The tunic is a size small. A nice early RAD service tunic!
