The Silver Infantry Assault Badge was awarded to foot infantrymen who had taken part in combat action on different days and met the required award criteria. It is constructed out of a die stamped zinc base that has been silver washed. The oval shaped obverse depicts a rifle and bayonet below a Heer closed winged eagle clutching a mobile swastika within its talons. This is all surrounded by an acorn and oak leaf wreath that is tied together at the bottom. The hollow back reverse correctly displays a crimped buntmetall round wire catch, crimped buntmetall sheet metal hinge and sturdy round wire nickel. They all remain in well working condition. The details continue to display wonderfully! It measures approximately 2 1/2 inches tall by 1 13/16 inches wide. This version is without the cut-out between the rifle and the swas. and is attributed to Linden on pg 230 of Weber's reference.
