Here we have an Army (Heer) Mountain Troop Infantry Gefreiter Enlisted Mans Combat Field Blouse (Feldbluse). It is constructed out of a multi-piece field gray herringbone twill weave cotton. The jacket shows period wear including minor thread catches/mothing holes throughout. The tunic has four pockets with buttoned flat flaps. All buttons are intact. There are four award loops to the front of the left chest pocket. There is an unmarked Silver Infantry Assault Badge by Mayer/Schickle attached to two of the loops on the pocket. The front vertical closure has six field gray painted aluminum pebbled buttons. All of the buttons are marked “A & S” (F. W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid) to the underside. They are attached to the tunic with steel wire that has slightly oxidized onto the tunic. The EM collar tabs are machine stitched on. They are constructed out of a machine embroidered white and grey rayon. The shoulder boards are the sew-on type. They feature a field gray wool cloth backing, surrounded by white waffenfarbe piping. The breast eagle is machine embroidered in grey/green rayon/cotton stitching and has been machine stitched on. To the left sleeve is a hand stitched on, downward pointing triangular shaped Gefreiter rank chevron in constructed out of a “V” shaped grey tress above a blue grey HBT cotton backing. To the right sleeve is a mountain troop sleeve edelweiss. The interior is partially lined in light-green silk-rayon. There are two white ink “40” size stamps towards the tail and one hidden under the inside closure flap. It has a 16 1/2 inch shoulder to shoulder tip and the waist is approximately 32 inches around. It would be the equivalent of a small. A solid piece!
