Here's one that we don't come across too often! The cleaned, 13 1/4 inch blade is a double etched example. The etching is quite dark depicting forests, hunters and Stag motifs all in hunting scenes. To the Reverse is "Gott Mit Uns" It continues to hold a solid fit. The blade is marked JV Garantiert which I believe is a distributor. The Blade rates Exc++. The factory leather buffer pad continues to remain intact. The scabbard is made of wood/cardboard base material that is covered in a fine black leather. It depicts two decorative lines running the length of the scabbard on both sides. All of the stitching remains intact. It has a spot for a small skinning knife which remains intact and in good shape. Both matching brass fittings have scalloped edges to the obverse. The staples are still intact. The brass hilt on this piece is really cool! The clamshell looks great having a boar being taken down by dogs and the hooves design to the crossguard displays beautiful detail! The brass ferrule and pommel both have decorative lines throughout. The pommel ends at a ball that is un-tampered with. The round stag multi-toned grip is just beautiful! No chips or cracks! Included is a nice period Hunting portepee.
