Here we have a Hitler Youth (Hitlerjungend) Belt Buckle (Koppelschloß) by F. W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid, that was introduced in 1936. It is constructed out of a single piece of die struck nickel-silver that has been silver washed. The obverse roundel depicts a closed winged HJ eagle clutching an HJ diamond within its talons on a pebbled round background. Above the eagle is the Hitler Youth motto reading: "Blut und Ehre" (Blood and Honor). This is then encircled by detailed lines which are enclosed by two twisted ropes and all lies on the smooth rectangular background. The reverse is clearly maker marked "A A&S", "Ges. Gesch." and "RZM 17" (F. W. Assmann & Söhne, Lüdenscheid). The reverse shows a soldered on tombak catch and steel pin, post/sleeve and prongs assembly. It shows minor surface scratches and wear throughout. The details to the eagle, motto and roundel are excellent! It measures approximately 2 7/16 inch wide by 1 7/8 inches high. An nice looking piece!
