Here we have a Model 1933 SS Dagger (Schutzstaffel Dienstdolch) by RZM 534/38 (Arthur Schüttelhöfer & Co., Solingen-Wald – 1938)! The blade on this one looks better in the photos than it is in person. How’s that for honesty! The acid etched “Meine Ehre Heißt Treue” motto and “RZM 534/38 SS” (Artur Schüttelhöfer & Co., Solingen-Wald – 1938) SS contract number are both nicely executed! The fit remains nice and tight and the tip comes to a perfect point! The blade rates Exc. It shows heavy surface scratches, several nicks to the cutting edges and age grey/spotting throughout. The scabbard body is steel based and black enamel painted with two solid nickel-silver scalloped scabbard fittings. It shows age spidering throughout yet has a nice dark finish, retains 97%+ paint coverage and remains completely dent free! The scabbard fittings show surface scratches and pressure marks throughout. The ball continues to retain its original round shape. All four screws remain intact. The scabbard ring is slightly bent as the seam doesn’t come together properly. The scabbard to hilt fit is near perfect! The solid nickel-silver crossguards look great and have perfect fits! The black died hardwood grip is in excellent shape! It shows the common pressure marks yet no cracks, chips or flakes! The nickel-silver eagle is nicely detailed and has a perfect fit. The SS roundel retains 99% of its enamel and also has a perfect fit! A good looking SS Dagger by a rarer maker!
