Here's a quality Model 1934 RAD EM Subordinate Hewer (Reichsarbeitsdiens Hauer für Mannschaften und Unterführer) by Carl Eickhorn of Solingen. The matte finished blade on this one is in great condition! The crisp, acid etched "Arbeit adelt" motto and "RADJ Ges. Gesch. Original Carl Eickhorn Solingen" maker mark are both beautifully executed! The fit is perfect, and so is the tip! It rates an easy Exc++. It shows the typical surface scratches, age grey and spotting throughout. The steel based, black enamel painted scabbard is looks great. It retains 90%+ paint coverage and remains completely dent free. There is age spidering throughout. The steel based, nickel-silver plated and black burnished fittings provide wonderful detail, throughout the RAD logo's and decorative interweaving top patterns All four screws remain intact. The scabbard / crossguard fit is perfect and closes with a snap! The zinc-alloy based, nickel-silver plated hilt is also in beautiful condition, matching the scabbard perfectly! It has the odd scuff and scratch yet retains 95%+ plating coverage! The stag horn grip plates have wonderfully aged, providing wonderful contrasting beige/brown colors that only time can create! There are no cracks of chips and they remain tightly secured by two steel screws. An excellent looking piece that is the right one for your collection!
