Here's a very unique Model 1937 RAD Leader Dagger (Reichsarbeitsdiens Dolch für Führer) by Ernst Pack & Söhne of Solingen. Check out those grip plates! More commonly done with pistols and known as “Sweetheart Grips”. The original owner cut out a photo of his wife and daughter and put them underneath glass grip plates. Now that's a real family man! The matte blade on this one is in excellent condition! The acid etched "Arbeit adelt" motto and "Ernst Pack & Söhne M.B.H. Waffenfabrik Solingen" maker mark are both dark, crisp and beautifully executed! The tip comes to a perfect point and the fit is tightly secured! The blade rates A Exc++/ NM. It shows only minor surface scratches, spotting and age grey. The steel based, nickel-silver plated scabbard has beautifully patinaed with time! There is the odd bubble yet it remains completely dent free! It also retains wonderful details throughout, with the burnished: decorative swirls, random pebbling and wheat sheaf's! Both throat retaining screws remains intact! The scabbard fits the hilt perfectly! The aluminum alloy based and burnished hilt looks good! The crossguard retains beautiful detail with the proud RAD emblem to the front and the eagle head on the pommel looks great too! The unique grip plates really give this piece some character! Looks to be the owners, wife and child. The spine piece on the grip can come off. I am sure if you wanted to put some clear glue behind it you could and its been this way for a long time! A very neat piece for the right collector!
