A nice matching one! The K98 Bayonet was designed for the German Wehrmacht standard service Karabiner 98 kurz (7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge) bolt-action rifle (1935). The single edged, single fullered, blued blade on this one look great! The blued panels continue to have a nice and dark and lacquered finish. The tip and fit are both perfect. It is beautifully maker marked with the stamped “S/185” (E & F Hörster, Solingen) to the reverse, “36” (1936) to the spine and “6108 g” (serial/distribution number) to the obverse. The blade rates a solid Exc++/NM. It shows the commonly seen marks from the runners. The steel based, black anodized scabbard looks good. It is marked “9138 l”, “S/155 1936” (E & F Hörster, Solingen 1936). The finish remains nice and dark and it is completely dent free! The single side screw remains intact. The scabbard sits securely up against the hilt. The hilt looks great! The brown wood grip plates are in great condition! They show the common pressure marks but no chips, cracks or splits! The button continues to work well. Minor oxidization spotting throughout. This piece is profusely inspection stamped as one would expect. A solid piece!
