A fine little set that is quite rarer to come by! Here we have a Post 1936 Customs Officials Visor Cap Eagle and Cockade (Zollbeamte Schirmmütze Abzeichen). The eagle and wreath are constructed out of a die stamped zinc-alloy base that have been silver washed. The cockade is constructed out of a die stamped aluminum alloy base that has been black painted /silver washed and has a red felt plug. The obverse features a customs eagle with outstretched wings clutching a wreathed mobile swastika in its talons above a customs wreath surrounding a national tri-color (red, white and black) cockade. The reverse’s both show a hollow unmarked back. The eagle retains two of its three tombak prongs. The Wreath has lost all its prongs. The silver wash to the wreath has been absorbed by the zinc. The eagle and wreath came in separately and were added together. The eagle measures approximately 2 ¾ inches wide by 1 ¼ inches tall. The wreath measures 2 ½ inches wide by 1 7/8 inches tall. A fine set when you’re looking for one!
