Blade is a blued example with no sharpening and a good original blued finish. The blade is "44ASW" stamped indicating 1944 manufacture. This matches the scabbard. The crossguard is also stamped 3144 and 44ASW. The pommel and ball are inspection stamped. Chip and crack-free brown/orange bakelite grip-plates are in nice shape. Everything has the look of expediting production, no time to pretty up anything at this stage. The scabbard has good finish and is dent-free. Nicely finishing this is a well marked frog. The threads are all intact, orange to the front and off-white to reverse. I know someone is gonna email me asking why. I don't really know, perhaps getting towards the end of the bobin? or just another indication that the factory was using whatever was on hand in 1944 to get production out the door! Neat.
