Wow check this beauty out! A wonderfully conditioned, early cased, privately purchase screwback example! What more could you ask for? The Iron Cross is a multi-piece, die struck construction that has been soldered together. The single piece core is constructed out of a brass metal base that has been black enamel painted. The frame, back plate and screw device are constructed out of a nickel silver base that has been silver washed. The obverse features; a pattée style cross that has a centrally placed embossed mobile swastika and "1939" to the lower arm, which is all on a black base and surrounded by a silvered ribbed/beaded row and a flat outlying border. The reverse features a centrally placed female screw hole and is marked "L55" (Wachtler & Lange) below it. The screw device works well. The border has wonderful frosting and paint! It's truly awesome! The LDO Case is early with the curved corners. It is made of wood and pressed cardboard, with a simulated, grained, black leather covering. The inside top features a stylized silver "LDO" marking in gold. The bottom features a red ink stamped "L55". To the front is a spring loaded, steel closure button. To the back is a magnetic, staggered, internal bar hinge. The hinge and the closure button function well. The interior top lid is lined in pearl satin and has an underlying pad. The bottom interior of the case is made of a black silky material and outlines the screw device assembly. The case is in impeccable condition! No scuffs or hits. Wow you will definitely have a hard time upgrading this piece! If you want your friends to be jealous buy it
