Here we have a beautiful example of a 2. Klasse Kriegsverdienstkreuz ohne Schwerter by 66! The 2nd Class War Merit Cross, which was given to civilians who performed meritorious service behind the lines. The medal is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been bronze washed. It depicts a pebbled Maltese style cross and a wreathed swastika / “1939” (reverse) to the center. To the top is a soldered on loop and “.66” (Freidrich Keller) maker marked ring. The award measures approximately 1 7/8 inches wide and tall. Accompanying the award is approximately 4 inches of black, white and red rayon ribbon. A beautiful assembly!
