Please note this item is no longer available and you were redirected to our Archives.

Here we have a Spange 1939 zum Eisernen Kreuz 1. Klaase by L/17 (Hermann Wernstein, Jena Lobstedt). This was awarded to those who has already received the imperial 1st class Iron Cross and earned the 1st class Iron Cross again in WWII. It is constructed out of a die-struck tombak base that has been silver washed with polished highlights. The obverse features a National open winged eagle clutching a wreathed swastika within its talons, above a trapezoid bannered "1939". The full back reverse is maker marked "L/17" (Hermann Wernstein, Jena Lobstedt) and shows the correct; soldered on block hinge and soldered on flat wire catch. The pin is lost to time. All components are non-magnetic. Gorgeous detail and silver wash! It measures approximately 1 ¾ inches wide by 1 ¼ inches tall. A fine maker marked one!
