Well great looking example here direct from the Vet's family! The plated bade on this one looks great! It retains a nice and bright mirror like finish along with a perfect fit and sharp tip! The stamped "A C S" / "Alexander Coppel ACS Solingen" dual maker mark and spine proof stamp are all crisp and beautifully executed! The blade rates a solid Exc++/NM. It shows the common surface scratches and minor spotting. The black leather scabbard body looks good! It has the common scuffs and warping due to the runners pushing on the leather for 80 years. It continues to retain all of its stitching and the four vertical lines running through it giving it that finishing touch of German detail! The tombak based, nickel-silver plated scalloped scabbard fittings remain in excellent condition. Both staples remain intact. The scabbard is clearly marked "S.Kg.1332." (Schutzpolizei Reg.-Bezirk Konigsberg) not exactly matching the hilt but with the same unit markings it's safe to assume this was mixed up in the period at the local detachment. The scabbard snugly fits the hilt and can be fully inserted, not left with a 1/2" out because the leather has shrunk. It depicts wonderful burnished detail throughout, with the oak leaves, acorns and highly detailed pommel eagle! The multi-toned stag grip plates are tightly secured with two aluminum rivets. The centrally placed burnished aluminum police eagle is properly pined and retains nice detail! An excellent early police bayonet!
