Miniature - 2nd Class Spange Device

Please note this item is no longer available and you were redirected to our Archives.

Here we have a Miniature (15mm) vaulted Spange zum Eisernen Kreuz 2. Klasse (Wiederholungsspange) 1939. IMO this piece is by Wilhelm Deumer, Lüdenscheid. The 2nd Class Spange to the Iron Cross (Repetition Clasp) 1939 was awarded to individuals who has received the 2nd class Iron Cross in WWI and would have earned the 2nd Class Iron Cross in WWII. It is constructed out of a die struck tombak base that has been silver washed with polished highlights and a lacquered finish. The obverse of the badge depicts a German national eagle, with out-stretched wings clutching a wreathed swastika within its talons and is above a trapezoid shaped pebbled bannered that reads “1939”?. The full back reverse shows two soldered on flatwire prongs. It retains nice detail! It measures approximately 9/16 of an inch wide and tall. Neat!
